Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

What you will like in our home:

Our home is a 100 square metre maisonette flat above the rooftops of Graz. It has 2 lockable rooms, a gym and a double bed. It also has an infrared cabin, which we installed ourselves.
Everything is perfect for relaxing in the centre of Graz, right next to the Sacred Heart Church.
We also have a pool table and a table tennis table just waiting to be played by you.
There is also an electric piano and a swing;-))
The kitchen is very spacious, is self-installed and offers the possibility of cooking for two.
The flat is an attic flat with lots of windows and wooden beams, so it's super rustic and totally cosy. We love our decor and our individual furnishing style.
What we don't have is a TV programme.
We do have a TV and even an old-school DVD player, but neither Netflix nor Amazon Prime nor any other common Austrian channel selection.
Graz is far too nice to sit in front of the TV for that!

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

What you'll like about the location and the neighbourhood:
I'll start with the immediate neighbourhood: There's a tobacconist's downstairs where you can buy newspapers and tobacco, and a small Spar directly opposite. In Austria, there are lots of very small shops that don't have a huge selection, but you can find them everywhere. There are two such grocery shops (a Spar and a Billa) within 200 metres of the flat alone, as well as an organic food shop. In addition, the Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Church of the Sacred Heart) impresses during the day with its lovely flair and at night with its absolutely beautiful lighting.

When you walk into the city, you pass numerous restaurants, and the city centre of Graz is about a 10-minute walk away. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is surprisingly quiet. As there are no pubs directly in the street, you hear very little. We sleep with the windows open all year round.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Graz is a beautiful little pearl that is always in the shadow of majestic Vienna. It is a university city and the location is simply phenomenal: you can be hiking in high alpine terrain in an hour or less, but there are also mountains and excursion destinations in the immediate vicinity that can be conquered by mountain bike, racing bike or on foot.
The cities of Vienna and Ljubljana can also be reached in a two-hour car journey, and those who prefer travelling by Flixbus can do so here too. Zagreb and Budapest are around 3 hours away and the seaside (Trieste (Italy) or Koper, Slovenia) is just 3.5 hours away. So no matter what you fancy, you'll find everything within easy reach here.
And don't forget that Graz is located on the southern side of the Alps and, with its Mediterranean flair, enjoys a full 300 hours of sunshine a year.

That's why there are 10 outdoor swimming pools in the city centre of Graz in summer and countless other bathing opportunities at the nearby lakes (Schwarzlsee, Wildoner See, Weihermühle, etc.).
In summer there are also plenty of outdoor festivals, which emphasises the character of the city, and every Wednesday there is salsa dancing with live music on what is perhaps the most beautiful square in the city, Lendplatz. Free of charge, of course.
Here you can spend a time that offers something new every day and choose between relaxation and sport, sightseeing and nature.
